Last week I filmed a new "stripped" with Providence based singer/ songwriter Valerie Poirier. I first saw her perform an open mic at The Spot Underground last year. She was singing a Cat Power song and I had to go up to her afterward to tell her I loved her singing. Fast forward to two weeks ago. I saw her when I was shooting at Burritos and Bluegrass at Lola's and reintroduced myself. I asked her if she would be interested in filming with me. Thankfully she was! After our first attempt at shooting failed (it's a long story), we shot last Friday and it was worth the wait. She is so nice and cute and I'm glad to record this video of her.
stripped // ben franklin "unscripted #1"
After a little break I am back with a new "stripped". This one is brought to us by Ben Franklin, a hip hop musician from Massachusetts. We had a photo shoot that day and I thought that we had to do a quick video. Underneath is a sneak peek from the photo shoot.
stripped // mike falzone "looking through them all"
My first "stripped" of 2012 comes from musician and comedian Mike Falzone. Mike has a huge fan base on YouTube with thousands of subscribers and has toured all over the country performing. After talking on Twitter and finding out he lived pretty close to me, we planned to film a video. It was so nice of him to come and I can't wait to work with him again!
stripped // metaphysics "dead kittens"
My first "stripped" of 2012 is with Rhode Island based emcee Metaphysics. He wrote this piece just for the series, which was awesome. Last October he released his latest album Edison's Ink, which is available for purchase on iTunes.
stripped // cole alexander "between the sheets"
New video in "stripped" by my friend Cole Alexander. I wanted to add someone singing and playing guitar early on in my series to show that it's just not about hip hop or spoken word. I really want this series to be about all genres of music. I'm going to be filming some amazing singer/ songwriters from the area and I'm really excited about it.
stripped // jon hope "hellogoodbye"
The latest video in my stripped series features Jon Hope. We met in college and I'm happy to say he is just as nice of a person as he was all those years ago. He wrote this piece just for my project, which made me very proud. Even though we were battling the loud sounds coming from a construction site a street over, I'm happy how this video came out.
stripped // my new video project
The reception to my new video series "stripped" has been awesome so far! I didn't think it would catch on so quickly. I uploaded my first video of Rudacious three days ago and today I am uploading my third video in the series with Jon Hope. After seeing a video of an up and coming rapper (of course now I can't remember who it is) performing at Google's offices, it sparked an interest in me. All he was doing was performing during at an office meeting for about 30 people but something about it entertained me more than say watching one of his music videos. I wanted to take that element of it and strip it down even more so the audience was removed from the equation. I just want it to be the artist and the camera.
So please watch my first two videos of Rudacious and Muffin and click thumbs up if you like it. Here's a fun fact for only those reading: Muffin found Rudy and I when we were filming. She had no idea we would be there and if you look carefully you can see Muffin creeping in the background of Rudy's video.
