Last week, I posted photos of the bank FINE. Well, that photoshoot would have never happened if my shoot with Roz Raskin didn’t happen. Roz asked me to take photos for her new project called NOVA ONE. It was really awesome to work with her and take photos that were a bit different from what I usually do. One thing that I didn’t know was happening was one of my photos ended up on the back on her vinyl record! That was really exciting for me since I am a vinyl collector so to have a photo I took on a record was really awesome for me. I took these photos back in December 2017 so it’s time to share some of the outtakes!
Back in July, I photographed Providence-based band FINE. Their genre on their Facebook page is QUEERCORE LOVEBATH which I am pretty into. Iz and Ly saw photos I took of another local musician and reached out to me do photograph the cover of their new album. They planned the whole concept for this shoot and I was really excited to be involved because it's very different from what I typically photograph. It brought me back to when I used to photograph live music and bands at the beginning of my career. Enjoy these outtakes from our shoot.
I haven't photographed a fashion shoot in a long time. I feel like that is a shameful thing to say as someone who is a fashion and lifestyle photographer. I'm sure many creative entrepreneurs know the feeling. You're too busy creating work for someone else that you neglect to make any of your own. My bff, Olivia Rodrigues, was feeling something similar so she came up with the idea for this shoot. She met designer Nathalia Jmag and right away was drawn to her clothing. She knew that she wanted to do this photo shoot in a place as vibrant as the clothing. Enter Troop, one of my favorite hangouts. The interior is old school hip-hop inspired. It was the perfect backdrop for this story. We took over the restaurant one Thursday morning (we even shot in the bathroom). It was a family affair as Olivia had her littlest sister, Ornella, model and had another little sister, Laurinda, on assistant styling duty. Simony Resende was on hair and makeup while my boyfriend was my lovely assistant. We're so excited that Scorpio Jin Magazine has published some of the photos online! Keep scrolling and check out more photos from the shoot!
Boudoir photography is such an intimate, private moment that you have to find the right photographer to take those photos for you. Even better is having a stylist pull the right pieces for the occasion. I'm glad that I get to share these photos I've taken of Laura with styling by Olivia Rodrigues.
